About us

Card fees shouldn't be a black box

Compayr is a free self-service comparison tool for merchant card transaction costs. We built it because working out what you actually pay to take a card is needlessly hard — statements are opaque, providers advertise the friendliest number, and the real cost hides in the detail.

We are not a broker, not a bank, and not a financial adviser. We are not owned or controlled by any payment provider, we hold no interest in any provider we compare, and no provider holds an interest in us.

The RBA's reforms landing on 1 October 2026 — banning card surcharges and cutting interchange — change the maths for every business in the country. Overnight, the cost you can no longer pass on becomes a cost you absorb. Suddenly, the deal you're on matters a lot more.

So we verify the pricing of every provider we list, rank by estimated card acceptance cost at your volume — terminal rental and hardware shown separately — and show our workings. Just a straight answer.

Ranked purely on cost

We rank on lowest card processing costs — full stop. No provider can pay to rank higher.

Radically transparent

Ex-GST maths, a 'last verified' date on every table, and an open explanation of how we make money.

On your side

We rank providers by card acceptance cost using the information you provide. Lower card processing cost means more of every sale stays with you.

How we make money — plainly

Some providers pay Compayr when a business switches through one of our links — a one-off amount, an ongoing share while you process, or both. Others pay us nothing. This never influences our rankings, which are based only on your lowest estimated card acceptance cost. If we can't save you money, we'll tell you.
