Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Compayr is a self serve merchant fee comparison service operated by Neural Pathways Pty Ltd (ABN 99 684 738 289), trading as Compayr. In this policy, "Compayr", "we", "us" and "our" mean Neural Pathways Pty Ltd. You can contact our Privacy Officer using the details in section 19. We are not owned or controlled by any payment provider. We receive a referral fee from some providers we compare — sections 5 and 10 explain how that fee arrangement works and how it does not affect the way providers are ranked.

2. What we collect

Calculator inputs

When you use the calculator, your inputs (turnover, rate, card mix) are processed to generate an on-screen comparison. We ask you to verify an email with a one-time code, which we hold briefly for validation to see all results. No account or password is created.

Statement uploads and switch requests

If you choose to request help switching or upload a statement, we collect the details you provide — such as your first name, business name, email, phone (optional), and any statement document you upload.

Email your comparison

If you ask us to email your on-screen comparison to yourself, we collect your email address together with a record of your consent (the wording you agreed to, and the date and time). We use it only to send you that comparison and to help with any related enquiry — we do not add you to a marketing list on this basis unless you separately opt in. We retain your email address and the comparison for 12 months from when the report is sent, after which they are deleted.

Email updates

If you sign up to receive updates from us — for example, to be notified when the 1 October surcharge reforms take effect — we collect your email address together with a record of your consent: the wording you agreed to, the date and time, and your IP address. We keep that record so we can demonstrate that you asked to hear from us.

Technical information and server logs

Like any website, our hosting provider records standard server logs: your IP address, the page requested, the time of the request, and your browser's user-agent string. We use these only for security, fraud prevention and debugging. Server logs are retained for 90 days and are then deleted.

3. Why we collect it

We use your information solely to: (a) generate and explain your comparison; (b) where you ask, help you switch provider; (c) where you upload a statement, read it — by manual review and/or automated extraction (including OCR) — only to prepare your personalised comparison; (d) where you have asked for them, send you the email updates you signed up for; and (e) keep the site secure and working. We do not use your statement for advertising, automated decision-making about you, or profiling unrelated to your comparison, and we never sell it.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of first-party cookies to make the site work: the attribution cookie described in section 10 (a randomly generated session identifier, 90-day lifetime), and a verification cookie that remembers you have confirmed your email address to see all calculator results.

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Google sets its own cookies and acts as our service provider. We have configured Google Analytics to minimise personal information: Google Signals and all advertising and remarketing features are turned off, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not track you across other websites. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.

We do not run advertising pixels, and we do not sell or share your data with advertising networks.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on. If we introduce any further analytics or additional cookie, we will update this section before we do so.

5. Disclosure

If you ask us to help you switch, we may share the relevant details with the provider you selected so they can assist you. We never sell your data, and we never share your uploaded statement with a third party without your explicit consent. Compayr may receive a referral fee from providers when a merchant switches; this never affects our ranking, which is ordered purely on the lowest cost of card acceptance (transaction pricing and recurring account fees; equipment is shown separately and is not ranked).

We may also disclose personal information where we are required or authorised to do so by law, in response to a lawful request from a regulator, court or law enforcement body, or where reasonably necessary to protect our legal rights.

6. Email updates and direct marketing

If you ask us to help you switch, we may contact you by email about that request, and the provider you selected will contact you directly.

Separately, you can sign up to receive email updates from Compayr — such as notice of pricing or regulatory changes affecting card acceptance. We send these only on the basis of the consent you give at signup. These emails may include relevant offers from Compayr and our partners, which we send ourselves: we do not hand your email address to those partners, and we do not sell or rent our mailing list.

Marketing consent is always optional and is never required to run a comparison, upload a statement or be connected to a provider. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw your consent at any time using that link or by contacting our Privacy Officer (section 19).

7. Storage and security

Uploaded statements are transferred over encrypted connections (TLS) and stored encrypted at rest with our secure upload provider. We apply access controls so only our review team can access them, and access to personal information generally is limited to the people who need it to operate the service.

8. Data breaches

If we become aware of unauthorised access to, or disclosure or loss of, personal information we hold, we will assess it promptly. Where a breach is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as soon as practicable, in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under Part IIIC of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

9. Retention and auto-deletion

Uploaded statements are retained for no longer than 30 days and are then permanently deleted. Lead details are retained only as long as needed to assist your switch or to meet our legal obligations. If you ask us to email your comparison to yourself, we keep your email address and that comparison for 12 months from when the report is sent, then delete them. Outbound-click records (see section 10) are retained for 24 months — covering the period over which provider referral commissions are reported and reconciled — and are then purged automatically. Server logs are retained for 90 days. If you have subscribed to email updates, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe, and retain the associated consent record for as long as we need it to show that your consent was validly obtained. We may notify you that data will be deleted and provide an opportunity to request a copy before deletion.

10. Outbound clicks, referral links and attribution

When you click through to a payment provider from Compayr, we log that click on our own systems (first-party logging). The log records which provider was clicked, the page you clicked from, the time, and a randomly generated identifier called a subid — an opaque code (e.g. 9f2a7c…) that is unique to that single click. A subid is pseudonymous: it contains no name, email, ABN, turnover or any other personal information, and no personal information is ever placed in the link we send you through on.

Some outbound links also carry a referral code. That code identifies Compayr to the provider — not you — so the provider knows the introduction came from us. Compayr may receive a referral fee from a provider when a merchant signs up after clicking through; this never affects our rankings, which remain ordered purely on the lowest cost of card acceptance, as described in our published methodology.

We also set the first-party cookie described in section 4, containing a random session identifier. It is not used for advertising and is never shared with third parties. If you later choose to give us your details — for example by uploading a statement or asking us to help you switch — those details are stored separately from the click log and are connected to it only by these random identifiers, so we can assist with your enquiry. Click records and any activation confirmations from providers are retained for 24 months, then purged.

11. Using Compayr without identifying yourself beyond an email validation

You can run a comparison without giving your name or phone number — there is an email verification gate to see all results. Where it is lawful and practicable you may deal with us anonymously or by pseudonym. Some things (a statement review, or being connected to a provider) need enough information to carry them out, and we will tell you when that is the case.

12. Information about other people in your statement

A merchant statement may contain information about someone other than you. If you provide us with information about another person, please make sure you are authorised to do so and that they are aware of this Privacy Policy. Please redact anything beyond the fee, volume and provider lines — we do not need it, and we do not want to collect it.

13. Sending your details to a provider

If you ask us to connect you, we provide only what is needed to your chosen provider — from which point your personal information becomes subject to that provider's privacy policy and their handling of it is their responsibility, not ours.

14. Do we send your information overseas?

We store and process your personal information in Australia and do not disclose it overseas. The one exception is website usage information collected through Google Analytics, which Google processes overseas, including in the United States. We do not disclose statements, enquiry details or contact information overseas. If this changes — for example if we engage a service provider that processes data outside Australia — we will update this section and identify the countries involved before that processing begins.

15. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time. To make a request — including asking us to delete an uploaded statement before the 30-day window — contact our Privacy Officer using the details in section 19. We will not charge you for making a request or for correcting your information, and we will respond within a reasonable period. If we cannot give access or make a correction, we will tell you why in writing.

16. Children

Compayr is intended for business owners and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact our Privacy Officer and we will delete it.

17. Accuracy of comparisons

All figures shown are indicative and were last verified in August 2026. They are estimates based on the information you enter and publicly available provider pricing, and should be verified with the provider before you make a decision. Compayr is not a financial adviser and this site provides general factual information, not financial product advice.

18. Complaints

If you have a privacy concern, contact our Privacy Officer (section 19). We will acknowledge your complaint within 7 days and aim to resolve it within 30 days; if it is complex and will take longer, we will tell you. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au, by phone on 1300 363 992, or by post to GPO Box 5288, Sydney NSW 2001.

19. Changes to this policy, and how to contact us

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always at compayr.com.au/privacy with the effective date at the top, and we will highlight material changes on the site.
